Yoo Mi Lee

 

Las Vegas Ballet Company Ballet Mistress

Yoomi Lee was born in Seoul, Korea and graduated from Sun-wha Arts School, majoring in Ballet.

She joined the Universal Ballet Company right after she graduated high school. She was promoted to the rank of soloist in Universal Ballet Company. She performed all over the world, namely in Japan, Twain, Italy, Austria, and the United States for eleven years.

She received a scholarship to the summer course at the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington D.C. She also won silver medal at the Dong-Ah dance competition in Korea.

She danced in numerous supporting and leading roles. After she married Kyudong Kwak (former Principal dancer of the Universal Ballet Company, Seoul Ballet Theatre, and Nevada Ballet Theatre), she joined Nevada Ballet Theatre and was promoted to principal dancer in 2004. Lee also selected as “Best Ballerina in 2014” for the Best of the City, Desert Companion magazine.

She is the Co-founder of Las Vegas Ballet Company and stages in most of Las Vegas Ballet Company’s repertoire. Lee’s repertoire includes principal roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Paquita, Don Quixote, the Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Romeo and Juliet, Dracula, Shim-Chung (The blind men’s daughter), George Balanchine’s Serenade, Allegro Briante, Who cares?, Jewels, Theme and Variation and many others.
