Heather Kotelenets

Ballet Faculty

 

A native of Flower Mound, Heather Kotelenets began her training at Ballet Conservatory in Flower Mound and the Texas Ballet Theater School in Dallas. At Ballet Conservatory, she had the privilege of working with Chung-Lin and Enrica Tseng and had the opportunity to dance in Chung-Lin’s new works. She finished her training at Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida, while on full scholarship. After graduating, she joined Texas Ballet Theater in 2005; Mrs. Kotelenets enjoyed performing roles in many of director Ben Stevenson’s ballets, including Cinderella in Cinderella, Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, and Three Preludes. She even performed Ben Stevenson’s Three Preludes at the opening of the Winspear Opera House in Dallas. Ben Stevenson brought in many world-renowned works in which she performed soloist and principal roles in pieces such as Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort, Kenneth MacMillan’s Gloria, Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena and Glen Tetley’s Voluntaries. She recently retired to stay home with her and her husband’s two-year-old daughter, Mila. She met her husband, Alexander Kotelenets, while dancing with Texas Ballet Theater. She is now pursuing a nursing degree, as well as, teaching and nurturing the next generation of dancers.
