Students from the Ballet Center of Fort Worth held their annual year-end recital. The performance was held at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, W.E. Scott Theater.
Many Ballet Center of Fort Worth students participated in the 2nd Annual Youth Dance Festival. The Youth Dance Festival was hosted by the Ballet Frontier and included young dancers from Ballet Frontier, Ballet Ensemble of Texas, Bloom (Dallas Black Dance Academy), and Texas Ballet Theater School Ensemble - Dallas Academy.
Many students participated in the Ballet Frontier's production of The Nutracker. The performance was held at the Will Rogers Colliseum in Fort Worth Texas.
Four students from Ballet Center of Fort Worth participated at the International Dance Competition in Porto Rotundo, Italy.
Ms. Emily Reason, age 12, won First Place for the under 14 category with the "Aurora Variation" from Sleeping Beauty Act I.
Ms. Bianca Wugofski, age 17, won First Place for the over 14 category with "She Tries to Fly", choreography by Chung-Lin Tseng.
Ms. Kaitlin Danis, age 16, won Second Place for the over 14 category with a variation from Giselle Act I.
Ms. Camilla Bevan and Ms. Bianca Wugofski were awarded a scholarship to a program in Italy, by Mr.Alex Atzewi, former dancer with the Momix and David Parson.
Ms. Camilla Bevan, Ms. Bianca Wugofski, Ms. Emily Reason, and Ms. Kaitlin Danis were awarded a scholarship to the summer program at the Balletto di Toscana school in Florence, Italy (guest teachers from Paris Opera, American Ballet Theatre...), by Ms. Lucia Geppi, Ballet Master with " Ballet de Montecarlo", " La Scala", " Aterballetto" and more.
It was a wonderful experience for the above mentioned young talents, and I wish that everyone could have seen their faces anytime the speaker announced that they were from Texas!
