Policies & Procedures 2009-2010

  1. Tuition is charged per student. A half month’s tuition will be charged for the month of August. A full month tuition is charged for all other months, including those with holidays and missed classes. REGISTRATION FEES and TUITION are NON-REFUNDABLE! In the event a student is unable to take class due to prolonged illness or serious injury, tuition credit may be applied to the following semester. Credit requests must be applied for in writing and be accompanied by a physician’s confirmation of the student’s inability to participate in class.

    Additional information regarding tuition:
    1. A non-refundable $35 registration fee is due each year at fall registration. The fall semester runs from mid August through the end of December. The spring semester runs from January through the end of May. Students enrolling after class begins will also be charged the $35 registration fee.
    2. Tuition is payable by month or semester. The school accepts cash or checks only. Monthly payments are due on the 1st of each month, and tuition is considered late if not paid by the 10th of each month. Balances paid after the 10th are subject to an additional $20 late charge. NOTE: A $20 non-refundable fee will be charged for any returned check.
    3. Any student whose tuition is more than thirty (30) days in arrears will be asked to discontinue classes until payment or suitable arrangements have been made.
    4. Students with outstanding account balances are not eligible for re-enrollment until outstanding payments have been made. Full tuition is due whether or not the student opts to participate in performance opportunities.
    5. Students who enroll after the beginning of the regular year may receive a pro-rated tuition rate.
    6. No refunds or credit will be given for class cancellations due to weather condition. Student absences will not be refunded; however, if a class is missed can be rescheduled within four weeks for a make-up class. Please notify the front desk in advance.
  2. Official class attire is required for all classes. Students are required to wear their appropriate class color and style leotards, tights, and proper ballet shoes in class. No other attire may be worn in class.

It is also highly recommended that all ballet attire (leotards, tights, shoes, belts, skirts, bags, etc.) be clearly marked with the student’s name and level. Ballet sweaters and leggings may be worn prior to class warm-up if it is cold. No jewelry, with the exception of stud earrings, may be worn in class. Hair is to be worn in a ballet style bun for all ballet levels. If it is too short, it must be pinned back away from the face. No “swinging” ponytails, please.
  3. Students should be ready for class, with proper attire and hair, at the appropriate time. The beginning of class includes proper warm-up exercises and missing this part of the class may lead to injury. Students who are late to class may be asked to sit and observe, and should wait for the teacher invitation to join the class.
  4. Students must turn off cell phones and pagers before entering the studios. Students should not return to the dressing room or lobby during or between classes without the specific consent of the instructor. Cell phones should not be used during class transition, as this time is solely intended for preparation for the next class and not a break.
  5. Street clothes or an appropriate cover-up must be worn when outside the studio. (This is a studio policy and a recommendation from the Fort Worth Police Department.)

Do not wear your ballet shoes outside of the studio. Dirt and oils collected on the bottom of ballet shoes are harmful to the special ballet dance floor in the studios.
  6. Students must leave the studio after their class has ended. Parents are responsible for their children before classes / rehearsals begin and as soon as they have concluded. If parents / guardians are unable to pick up their children at the appropriate time, or if alternate transportation arrangements are made, the school must be informed for security reasons. Parents assume all responsibility for students who leave the premises without supervision.

NOTE: Parents, please do not allow your student(s) to run out into the parking lot. This area is very busy and we want everyone to remain safe.
  7. Regular attendance is important to the training of each dancer and is a factor in determining performance placement and level advancement. Attendance is checked at each class.
    1. To report any / all types of absences, please notify the school ASAP at 817-423-9888 or e-mail balletcenter_fw@yahoo.com
    2. If the student must miss class for any reason, it is required that the school is informed of the absence.
    3. If the student knows in advance of an absence or a period of absence, the school must be informed in writing.
    4. If the student is not able to participate but is able to observe, this is preferred to an absence.
    5. If a child is ill or running a temperature / fever, please do not send them to class, even to observe.
    6. If a student must miss class, he or she has the option to make-up for the class missed, in the class offered for the same level or the level below.
  8. Food and drinks are only allowed in the Lobby. Only water bottles are permitted in the studio and dressing room areas.
  9. Lost articles of clothing, jewelry, shoes, etc. will be kept in the Lost & Found boxes in the school office.
  10. All students are expected to pick up after themselves and help keep the lobby, dressing rooms, hallways, and studios neat and orderly. Students need to remove all trash and personal items from these areas before leaving the building.
  11. Only BCFW students and staff are permitted in the studios during classes and rehearsals. Children of age between 3-6 should be accompanied by a parent, or the teacher assistant to the restroom.
  12. Please feel free to contact BCFW with any questions or concerns at anytime during the year. You may reach the school during regular class hours by calling the school office at 817-423-9888 or balletcenter_fw@yahoo.com. You may also leave a message in the school voicemail or e-mail to set up an appointment with the School Director or the Faculty.
